Two weeks after announcing the end of their 21-year marriage, actor Scott Wolf has taken a decisive legal step in what's quickly become a deeply personal and public unraveling. On June 24, the Party of Five star filed for a temporary restraining order against Kelley Wolf in Utah, citing concerns tied to recent events surrounding her mental health crisis.
The request includes declarations from both Scott and his brother Michael Wolf, marking a sharp escalation in what had previously appeared to be a civil separation. Kelley, 48, confirmed she was served the order the following day, just days after being released from a 5150 psychiatric hold initiated by authorities on June 13.
That incident stemmed from what a friend described in a 911 call as an "escalating mental health crisis." The caller, whose identity was redacted in obtained dispatch audio, said Kelley was "very skittish" and "anti getting help," adding, "I do not think she will cooperate." The friend insisted a mental health team was urgently needed, emphasizing that attempts to assist her had been ongoing "for weeks to months."
Following her release, Kelley posted to Instagram claiming she was fine, writing, "No mental illness. No addictions. Just a woman who SURVIVED an involuntary 5150." In the same post, she described going on a first date and added, "I'm not quiet anymore. And the show's just getting started."
The 5150 hold, typically reserved for individuals deemed a danger to themselves or others, is "a critical intervention," according to the National Alliance on Mental Illness. Though Kelley attempted to downplay the seriousness of her hospitalization, the legal response from Scott suggests lingering concerns remain.
While Scott has not commented publicly, he recently posted a photo of his children—Jackson, 16, Miller, 12, and Lucy, 11—with the caption, "On the road with my forever squad." A source close to Kelley responded, calling the restraining order "cruel" and "incorrect," adding, "Kelley is ready to fight like hell for her children."
Their divorce, announced on June 10 via social media, had initially carried a tone of mutual respect. Kelley praised Scott as "one of the best fathers" and expressed hope in navigating the separation with grace.
