Lewis Hamilton has shared a devastating health update about his bulldog, Roscoe, revealing the beloved pet is in a coma after suffering a severe bout of pneumonia.

The seven-time Formula 1 world champion, 40, took to Instagram on Friday, September 26, to inform fans of Roscoe's condition. Posting photos from the veterinary hospital, Hamilton wrote, "Please keep Roscoe in your thoughts. I want to keep you all updated. Roscoe caught pneumonia again and was struggling to breathe."

According to Hamilton, Roscoe was admitted to the hospital and sedated to help with tests, but during the process his heart stopped. "They managed to get a heartbeat back and now he's in a coma. We don't know whether he will wake from this. Tomorrow we'll try to wake him up. I'm by his side and want to thank you all for your prayers and support," he added.

This is not the first time the 12-year-old bulldog has battled pneumonia. Earlier this year, Roscoe received treatment involving antibiotics and supportive therapies, including a Vitamin C IV recommended by his trainer Kirstin McMillan. Hamilton previously revealed that switching Roscoe to a plant-based diet helped ease his chronic health issues, saying, "He always had health issues and would struggle with things like his breathing and his walking... Even his coat is softer, which is amazing because he loves to be petted!"

Roscoe has long been a fixture in Hamilton's life, often spotted accompanying the driver during Grand Prix weekends and even appearing in F1: The Movie. With more than a million followers on his own Instagram account, Roscoe has become a star in his own right.

Hamilton's concern for his dog comes during a challenging first season with Ferrari, where he has yet to secure a podium finish. He was due to take part in a Pirelli tyre test at Mugello, Italy, but stepped aside, with reserve driver Zhou Guanyu filling in. Ferrari teammate Charles Leclerc also took part in the session.

For now, Hamilton remains focused on Roscoe's recovery. Earlier in the week, he told fans, "It's been a scary few hours, everyone please keep Roscoe in your thoughts and prayers."
