Selena Gomez, 33, has revealed her hopes of becoming a mother, less than two weeks after marrying Benny Blanco on September 27 in Montecito, California. The couple, who exchanged vows in a romantic ceremony attended by friends including Taylor Swift, shared heartfelt moments during the event. Blanco wrote on Instagram, "i married a real-life Disney princess," while Gomez shared glimpses of the celebration, with the pair exchanging emotional kisses and dancing barefoot. An insider told US Weekly that Gomez "started sobbing and crying so hard" during the ceremony, adding, "Everyone there was sobbing, and it was extremely emotional."

Gomez's recent reflection on motherhood came as she promoted season two of Wizards Beyond Waverly Place, the sequel series to her hit Disney Channel show. In the finale, her character Alex Russo is revealed to be the mother of Billie Russo, played by Janice LeAnn Brown. Sharing the moment on Instagram, Gomez wrote, "Alex Russo is a mommy 🥹. Hopefully one day that'll be me," alongside a clip from the finale. Brown, 15, described the table read as intense: "It was very emotional, especially for me and her after the table read," with Gomez adding, "We were just puddles."

The Emmy nominee has previously spoken candidly about her connection to Alex Russo. On Jake Shane's Therapuss podcast, she described the reboot as a "new, refreshing take" and reflected on returning to "an older version of Alex," admitting, "The character ultimately shaped who I am, because I feel like I am Alex." Her husband, Benny Blanco, highlighted her enduring bond with children: "When you started doing this you were a kid and that was your way to connect to people and I feel like you still feel like you have that obligation to connect with young kids... you shaped so many young people's lives, whether it was Barney, Wizards [of Waverly Place]... you're still finding your way to do that."

While Gomez has openly expressed her love for children, she has also shared the challenges she faces. In a 2024 interview with Vanity Fair, she revealed, "I unfortunately can't carry my own children," citing medical complications. She added, "I'm in a much better place with that. I find it a blessing that there are wonderful people willing to do surrogacy or adoption, which are both huge possibilities for me," emphasizing her excitement for motherhood, even if it unfolds differently.
