Australian hitmaker Sia is facing a costly legal battle after her estranged husband, Daniel Bernad, requested over $250,000 in monthly spousal support following the breakdown of their marriage. The "Chandelier" singer, whose full name is Sia Furler, filed for divorce in March, citing irreconcilable differences after nearly two years of marriage. The pair tied the knot in 2022 and welcomed their first child, Somersault, in 2024, but cracks in their relationship quickly surfaced.

Bernad, a former radiation oncologist, argues that he sacrificed his thriving medical career to support Sia, claiming he now has no source of income. In legal documents filed in Los Angeles, he described their marriage as one marked by "luxury and excess," revealing that they lived in a $12.5 million Toluca Lake mansion, staffed by up to 12 employees, including chefs and masseuses. Their lavish lifestyle also included frequent private jet travel, according to Bernad's statement.

The 47-year-old has also asked for $300,000 in legal fees and an additional $200,000 for forensic accounting. He alleged that Sia withdrew financial support for their joint business venture (a ketamine treatment clinic)after their separation, leaving him without means to sustain himself.

Sia, who previously married filmmaker Erik Anders Lang between 2014 and 2017, has not publicly commented on the case. Known for her fiercely private nature and iconic wigs that conceal her face, the singer has built a reputation for blending artistic brilliance with emotional vulnerability.

In recent years, she embraced motherhood in unconventional ways, adopting two 18-year-old boys in 2019 who were aging out of foster care one of whom made her a grandmother in 2020.

While her creative genius has always kept her in the spotlight, this unfolding legal drama paints a contrasting picture of domestic challenges behind the music. Whether the court grants Bernad's staggering request remains to be seen, but one thing is clear, Sia's next performance might not be on stage, but in a courtroom where privacy will be hard to maintain.
