Sydney Sweeney's bold red-carpet choice at Variety's Power of Women event has sparked mixed reactions — and none louder than Megyn Kelly's. The conservative commentator criticized the actress's sheer silver gown, calling it a "rare misstep" and comparing her look to Kim Kardashian's often revealing style.

At the October 29 gala in Beverly Hills, Sweeney wore a see-through floor-length dress from the Christian Cowan x Elias Matso Spring 2026 collection. While the outfit made headlines across social media, Kelly voiced disapproval on The Megyn Kelly Show, saying that Sweeney's look "crossed into that same TMI danger zone" that she believes has made celebrity culture too revealing.

Kelly began by acknowledging Sweeney's beauty, calling her "all woman, real woman, actual woman, and absolutely stunning." However, she took issue with the revealing design, saying it was "completely see-through" and left "little to the imagination." She said the look reminded her of Kim Kardashian, claiming that the reality star "overshares and then takes away the thing that is the sexiest, which is every guy's hoping to be the one who actually sees them for real."

Kelly emphasized that she's "pro-modesty" and believes women can look powerful without overexposure. "There's nothing wrong with a womanly figure," she said, but added that there's a "way to dress that with dignity and respect."

During the segment, Relatable podcast host Allie Beth Stuckey joined Kelly and agreed with her remarks, suggesting that Sweeney's outfit might have been chosen for attention. "Maybe it's as superficial as liking the attention, knowing she'll be written about positively," Stuckey said. Kelly concurred, adding that Sweeney might have "trusted the wrong person" to style her and that her team likely thought "it's a good thing."

Despite the criticism, Kelly made it clear she still admires Sweeney, saying she remains a fan of the actress's previous work, including her controversial American Eagle ad. She described this as simply "a rare miss."

Meanwhile, Sweeney has addressed how she handles public attention around her image. Speaking to Fox News Digital, she said she often feels like "a caged animal" but finds freedom through acting, explaining, "I hope I can inspire other women to be confident and just flaunt what they got."
