Eric Decker and Jessie James Decker are a ride-or-die couple. The country music star remained by her husband's side as he exited Special Forces: World's Toughest Test season four after being injured in a brutal physical exercise on October 30.
On day six of the Fox competition series, the remaining ten celebrities faced their most difficult challenge yet: a tough military task known as "Murder Ball," in which recruits physically battled each other over a ball in a mud pit to test their determination and grit. And Eric, who retired from the NFL in 2018, was eager to put his body to the test.
As Jessie noted in the 38-year-old's confessional, "Eric hasn't had this kind of physical challenge since he played footbafootball. Ihim to have that moment again."
But after giving it his all in several rounds against his co-stars, including Andrew East, Randall Cobb, Mark Estes, and Kody Brown, Eric injured his back at the end of the brutal exercise.
The exhausted father of four could barely walk back to basecamp after realizing he had "popped" something.
Despite the agony, Eric, who was experiencing painful back spasms, vowed to continue competing in the competition.
"I'm going to push myself 'til exhaustion," he said in a confessional. "My attitude and determination, I feel like, will push me through. I know it's going to be difficult. I'm going to do it until my body says 'no.'"
Unfortunately, a visit to Special Forces' Dr. Andy Brown confirmed that his body had finally had enough.
The doctor informed Eric, "I'm concerned that we can't inflict any more punishment on your hip." I don't think we can safely let you continue."
Eric was forced to medically remove himself on day six, but not before stating, "I don't consider myself a quitter."
When he told his wife, Jessie immediately said, "I'm going with you."
The singer willingly withdrew to return home and care for her injured husband.
As they clasped hands and exited camp together, Jessie said tenderly, "We ride together; we fly together."
