Paris Jackson has opened up about her struggles with drug addiction and the lasting effects it has had on her body and life. In a candid video shared on social media on November 10, the 27-year-old revealed she has a perforated septum, a hole between her nostrils caused by past substance abuse.

"I have a really loud whistle when I breathe through my nose," she said, shining a light up her nostril to show the cavity. "That is because I have what is called a perforated septum." Paris explained that the condition is "slightly different from a deviated septum" and admitted it was "from what you think it's from." She added a warning: "Don't do drugs, kids," later clarifying, "I don't recommend it because it ruined my life."

The daughter of Michael Jackson and Debbie Rowe said she has lived with the issue since she was around 20 years old, describing it as a challenge, especially when recording in the studio. She joked that she could thread "a spaghetti noodle" through the hole but made it clear she does not plan to undergo corrective surgery because "you have to take pills when you do a surgery that gnarly," and she doesn't want to risk her sobriety.

Paris marked five years of sobriety earlier this year, celebrating her recovery from heroin and alcohol addiction. In an emotional Instagram post, she wrote: "To say that I'm thankful would be a poor euphemism. Gratitude hardly scratches the surface. It's because I'm sober that I get to smile today. I get to make music. I get to experience the joy of loving my dogs and cat. I get to feel heartbreak in all its glory. I get to laugh. I get to dance. I get to trust."

At the Friendly House Awards in Los Angeles last month, Paris reflected on her recovery journey, saying, "I didn't just get my life back. I got a better one." She credited sobriety for helping her live with purpose, adding that helping others through recovery has been one of her greatest achievements.
