Jelly Roll is opening up again, raw, unfiltered, and with the kind of honesty that has defined his rise. The country star admitted that before dropping more than 200 pounds, intimacy with his wife Bunnie Xo was nearly impossible. And according to him, the struggle wasn't emotional, relational or marital. It was purely physical.
Speaking on The Joe Rogan Experience, the 41-year-old didn't flinch when describing how his size shut down even the simplest moments of connection. "My sex life was horrible," he said bluntly, adding that at his heaviest, he "couldn't even get aroused." For a man married to what he calls a "big-tittied, blond, beautiful woman," the frustration built into shame.
He joked that sex felt like "playing Twister," describing the awkwardness with the same comedic timing that fuels his charm. But the laughter came with a bruise: the realization that weight and addiction were destroying parts of his life he valued most.
Jelly Roll emphasized that Bunnie was never the problem. Instead, he said his family had spent years adjusting around his addictions, emotionally, physically, and practically. Even moments as simple as throwing a football with his son were out of reach. "That's what my addiction has done to these people," he admitted.
The shift began when he finally confronted the impact of his choices. After years of broken promises about improving his health, he committed to something small: one walk. When he returned home, his entire family stood outside cheering. For him, the moment wasn't about exercise, it was proof that he could still become the man he'd long told them he wanted to be.
Since then, the singer has lost over 200 pounds and regained parts of his life that had been slipping away quietly. And while he approaches the story with humor, the victory means more than a punchline. "I never thought I'd lose this weight," he told Rogan. "I feel great. I feel really, really good."
For Jelly Roll, healing didn't begin in the gym, it began in the driveway, with a family willing to believe in him one more time.
