Rob Reiner's son Nick Reiner has been arrested following the deaths of the legendary filmmaker and his wife, Michele Singer Reiner, who were found dead at their Los Angeles home over the weekend.

According to law enforcement sources cited by multiple outlets, Nick Reiner, 32, was taken into custody Sunday night. Online jail records show he is being held on $4 million bail, though initial records did not immediately specify the charge. Los Angeles Police later confirmed that the case is being investigated by the department's Robbery-Homicide Division as an "apparent homicide."

Police and firefighters were called to the Reiners' Brentwood residence around 3:30 p.m. on Sunday for a medical aid request. Upon arrival, authorities discovered the bodies of a 78-year-old man and a 68-year-old woman, later identified as Rob Reiner

and Michele Singer Reiner. Law enforcement sources reported the couple suffered injuries consistent with a stabbing.

In a statement released after the discovery, the family said, "We are heartbroken by this sudden loss, and we ask for privacy during this unbelievably difficult time."

Rob Reiner's daughter Tracy Reiner, whom he adopted during his marriage to the late Penny Marshall, also spoke out. "I came from the greatest family ever," she told NBC News, adding, "I don't know what to say. I'm in shock."

Nick Reiner is a screenwriter who previously collaborated with his father on the 2015 film Being Charlie, which was loosely inspired by his own struggles with addiction. He has spoken publicly about entering rehab more than 17 times starting at age 15 and experiencing periods of homelessness. "If I wanted to do it my way and not go to the programs they were suggesting, then I had to be homeless," he told People in 2016.

At a press briefing, LAPD officials said the investigation remains ongoing. "They worked throughout the night on this case and were able to take into custody Nick Reiner, a suspect in this case," Police Chief Jim McDonnell said, calling the deaths "a very tragic incident."
