Franky Venegas, one half of the viral rap duo the Island Boys, began the new year in custody after being arrested in Florida on New Year's Eve in connection with alleged drug-related offenses.
Law enforcement officials say the 24-year-old was taken into custody Wednesday night and booked into the Collier County Jail in Naples. Venegas faces a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia and was photographed in a new mug shot at the time of booking. He is currently being held without bond due to an existing legal matter.
Authorities confirmed that Venegas is subject to a 24-hour hold because he was already out on bond from a separate arrest earlier this year. In February, he was charged with delivering, possessing or selling a firearm with an altered serial number. While a drug-related charge tied to that case was later dropped, the firearm charge remained active, allowing him to be released on bond — a status that complicated his latest arrest.
The February incident stemmed from a traffic stop after officers said a yellow Corvette ran a stop sign. During the stop, police reported finding suspected Oxycodone on the passenger-side floorboard of the vehicle. Venegas denied ownership at the time and claimed he had a prescription but did not have documentation on hand.
A search of the vehicle allegedly uncovered additional items, including a handbag containing a handgun that appeared to have its serial numbers removed, along with cut straws and personal items bearing Venegas' name. Officers also reported finding another straw with a powdery substance inside the car's center console. The firearm discovery ultimately became the most serious component of that case.
Venegas rose to internet fame in 2021 alongside his twin brother Alex, known as Flyysoulja, after their song I'm an Island Boy went viral across social media platforms. Their sudden popularity brought widespread attention, but their public profile has since been accompanied by repeated legal troubles.
In addition to the firearm case, Venegas has previously been arrested on charges including domestic battery, reckless driving, and driving without a license. His most recent arrest adds to a growing list of encounters with law enforcement since his rise to fame.
Venegas is expected to appear in court in early February, where a judge will determine next steps regarding both the pending firearm case and the new charge. For now, he remains behind bars as the legal process continues.
