Jennifer Lopez has been defended by Glambot director Cole Walliser following online criticism of her behavior during a brief red carpet interaction at the 2026 Golden Globes.

The controversy emerged after Walliser shared Lopez's Glambot video from the January 11 ceremony on TikTok. Some viewers accused the singer and actress of being dismissive, noting that she appeared not to engage in conversation with the director before stepping into position for the slow-motion fashion clip. Comments on the post included remarks such as, "My favorite part was when she didn't look at, speak to, or smile at you."

Walliser addressed the criticism in videos posted to his social media accounts on January 18, stating that he did not find Lopez's behavior disrespectful. "I didn't take it personally, it didn't feel rude in that moment," he said, explaining that the interaction was shaped by timing and logistics rather than attitude. According to Walliser, Lopez arrived as the red carpet was closing and was preparing to head inside for the ceremony.

He noted that the starting position for Lopez's Glambot shot required her to face away from him, which some viewers misinterpreted. "She's just down to business," Walliser said. "She's ready to go inside. She knew what she was gonna do. She got into the position."

Walliser also emphasized that participation in the Glambot is optional and that celebrities are not obligated to stop. "Glambots are completely elective. No one is forcing you to do it," he said. "Anybody that stops, I already like you because you're taking the time to do my thing and this is generous of you."

The filmmaker, who launched the Glambot series for E! in 2016, added that red carpets are often chaotic environments where celebrities are frequently moved quickly between engagements. He explained that publicists often guide stars from one stop to another with little time for discussion, and that distractions are common. "When people are distracted, or less chatty, or thinking about other stuff, I don't take it personally," he said.

Walliser also referenced past viral Glambot moments, including reactions to Cara Delevingne's 2023 Oscars appearance and Harry Jowsey's 2025 Emmys clip, noting that online interpretations can differ from what occurs in real time.

Lopez, who attended the Golden Globes as a presenter, has not publicly commented on the backlash surrounding the Glambot video.
