Jelly Roll's wife, Bunnie Xo, is opening up about a frightening chapter in her health journey.
In a recent interview with People, the 46-year-old podcast host revealed she experienced severe suicidal thoughts while taking a GLP-1 medication containing semaglutide in December 2025.
The "Dumb Blonde" host described the period as one of the most painful months of her life, explaining that she had previously dealt with anxiety but had never battled depression.
Then, seemingly without warning, everything shifted.
According to Bunnie, born Alyssa DeFord, she was suddenly overwhelmed by intrusive and alarming thoughts. She described the emotional downturn as especially terrifying because it felt unfamiliar and out of character.
"You want anxiety because you're afraid of dying," she explained in the interview. "With depression, you don't care. That's what made it so dark."
The media personality said she decided to speak publicly in hopes of encouraging more open conversations about mental health side effects tied to certain medications. She emphasized that anyone facing similar thoughts should know they are not alone and urged people not to make irreversible decisions during temporary emotional lows.
Bunnie said she initially turned to the medication due to ongoing insulin-related health concerns and a family history of diabetes. Still, she admitted wishing she could effortlessly achieve weight loss without complications.
Her husband has also undergone a dramatic physical transformation in recent years but has publicly stated he did not rely on Ozempic to slim down. Instead, the Grammy winner focused on daily walking, high-protein meals and therapy to improve his overall well-being.
The couple, who married in 2016 and later renewed their vows in Las Vegas, have frequently supported one another's personal growth journeys.
Now, Bunnie hopes her experience sheds light on the importance of monitoring both physical and mental health while pursuing weight-loss treatments, and reminds others that even the strongest people can face unexpectedly dark moments.
