Harry Styles has taken on a major new role in the music world. The global pop star is set to curate the 2026 edition of Meltdown at London’s Southbank Centre, one of the capital’s most respected cultural institutions. In addition to shaping the lineup, Styles will also perform a headline concert during the festival, marking a significant moment both in his career and in the venue’s history.

Meltdown is widely recognized as the world’s longest running artist curated music festival. Each year, a prominent musician is invited to oversee the programming, bringing their own taste, influences, and creative vision to the event. The 2026 edition is particularly special, as it coincides with the 75th anniversary of the Southbank Centre, the famed riverside venue that also serves as the central location for the London Film Festival and hosts major events including the BAFTA Film Awards.

The festival is scheduled to run from June 11 to June 21, 2026. While the full lineup has not yet been announced, organizers have shared that Styles will draw on his broad musical influences when selecting artists. His tastes span pop, soul, electronic, and rock, as well as underground

scenes and emerging young British talent. This suggests that the 2026 Meltdown will reflect not only Styles’ chart topping success but also his appreciation for diverse sounds and rising voices.

Speaking about the opportunity, Styles expressed both gratitude and excitement. “I’m deeply honoured to curate the Meltdown festival, especially for the Southbank Centre’s 75th anniversary year. My goal as the curator is to share the music and art that I love, and to celebrate the rich history of the venue,” he said.

He continued by emphasizing the shared values between himself and the institution. “We both share a passionate belief that music is a vital part of life. It brings us together, and the Southbank Centre has been at the heart of it, providing easy access to great music for the past 75 years. I’m incredibly grateful to Southbank for having me. It’s really exciting for me to have this opportunity in such an iconic venue.”

Styles joins a distinguished list of past Meltdown curators. In 2025, the festival was curated by Little Simz, while previous editions have featured artists such as Robert Smith, Grace Jones, and Nile Rodgers. Each brought a unique identity to the festival, and Styles’ involvement continues that tradition of artist led programming.

The announcement comes during an especially active period in Styles’ career. He recently revealed a 30 date run at New York’s Madison Square Garden, which saw more than 11 million people apply for presale access. He also achieved a record breaking 12 night residency at Wembley Stadium in London, underscoring his continued global appeal.

With his role as curator and headliner, Styles is set to shape one of London’s most anticipated music events in 2026. As the Southbank Centre celebrates 75 years at the heart of the city’s cultural life, Meltdown promises to be a fitting tribute to its legacy and a showcase for the music that continues to bring audiences together.
