A New Orleans judge has imposed strict new conditions on Shia LaBeouf's release, ordering the actor into substance abuse treatment and setting a $100,000 bond following his recent arrest during Mardi Gras celebrations.

LaBeouf, 39, was taken into custody on Feb. 17 on two misdemeanor battery counts tied to an alleged confrontation at a bar in New Orleans' French Quarter.

Shortly after his arrest, he was released on his own recognizance, meaning he was not required to post bail at the time. However, during a hearing on Thursday, Judge Simone Levine reversed that decision, citing the seriousness of the allegations presented in court.

The judge ordered LaBeouf to post a $100,000 bond and enroll in a substance abuse treatment program as a condition of remaining out of custody. He must also participate in ongoing drug and alcohol testing.

According to statements made in court, additional details surrounding the alleged incident were not reflected in the record at the time of his initial release. The judge said those factors weighed into her decision to revisit bail.

One of the men involved in the dispute previously claimed the confrontation began inside the bar before escalating outside. Court documents allege that a man was struck in the face during the incident. Authorities later transported LaBeouf to a local hospital for evaluation before booking him.

Defense counsel told the court that a drug and alcohol screening conducted Thursday did not show the presence of illegal substances. Still, the judge expressed concern about what she described as ongoing struggles with alcohol.

LaBeouf has publicly discussed past battles with addiction. His next court appearance is scheduled for March 19. Representatives for the actor have not issued a public statement regarding the updated release conditions
