Jim Carrey is setting the record straight after wild online theories suggested a "clone" accepted his Honorary César Award in Paris.

"Jim Carrey attended the César Awards, where he accepted his Honorary César Award," his representative confirmed Monday, shutting down speculation that a body double or impersonator appeared in his place.

The rumors erupted after the 64-year-old actor made a rare public appearance at the prestigious French ceremony honoring the year's best films. Social media users quickly

zeroed in on his appearance, with some claiming his face looked different and others insisting his eye color had changed.

"You can't convince me they didn't clone Jim Carrey," one user wrote on X, while another suggested the star had been replaced altogether.

Gregory Caulier, general delegate of the César Awards, dismissed the chatter as baseless. He revealed that Carrey's attendance had been planned for months and described the moment as "historic." According to Caulier, the actor worked diligently on a speech delivered entirely in French and arrived with close friends and family to celebrate the honor.

"For me, it's a non-issue," Caulier said, praising Carrey's "generosity" and "elegance."

Fuel was added to the conspiracy fire when drag artist Alexis Stone posted images on Instagram implying she had impersonated the comedian using prosthetics. The post sparked confusion, even drawing reactions from celebrities who questioned whether the claim was legitimate.

Complicating matters further, an old late-night interview resurfaced in which Carrey once joked about using decoys to divert paparazzi. In the clip, he described sending a look-alike in one direction while he slipped away unnoticed, a tactic that worked "like a charm."

Still, sending a double to accept a major international honor would be another matter entirely.

Carrey, who stepped back from Hollywood in the late 2010s before returning for "Sonic the Hedgehog 3" in 2024, has not personally addressed the speculation. But his team's message was clear: no clone, no decoy, just Jim.
