Pop superstar Britney Spears is set to spend time with her two sons after her recent arrest on suspicion of DUI in Ventura, California. Spears, 44, shares Sean Preston, 20, and Jayden James, 19, with her ex-husband Kevin Federline. According to a representative, her sons will be by her side as she navigates this challenging period.

"Her boys are going to be spending time with her. Her loved ones are going to come up with an overdue needed plan to set her up for success for well being," the representative said in a statement.

Spears was taken into custody on the evening of Wednesday, March 4, and released early Thursday morning, according to Ventura County Sheriff's Office records. Multiple outlets, including PEOPLE and TMZ, reported that her arrest was on suspicion of DUI.

"This was an unfortunate incident that is completely inexcusable," Spears' rep added. "Britney is going to take the right steps and comply with the law and hopefully this can be the first step in long overdue change that needs to occur in Britney's life. Hopefully, she can get the help and support she needs during this difficult time."

The singer's arrest comes amid years of public scrutiny and personal challenges. Spears spent nearly 14 years under a conservatorship led by her father, Jamie Spears, which ended in 2021. Since then, she has been candid about her desire for independence and personal freedom. In her 2023 memoir, The Woman in Me, Spears wrote, "Freedom means that I get to be as beautifully imperfect as everyone else. And freedom means the ability, and the right, to search for joy, in my own way, on my own terms."

Spears' relationship with her family has continued to be complicated and emotionally challenging. In February, she posted on Instagram, though the post has since been deleted, sharing that she had experienced significant isolation and emotional strain due to her family dynamics. She highlighted the importance of feeling connected to loved ones and emphasized that the lack of support and exclusion she experienced had a lasting impact on her well-being. Spears also reflected on the seriousness of how her family treated her in the past, noting that those experiences left her feeling fearful while also acknowledging her survival and resilience despite those challenges.

In recent years, Spears has made efforts to maintain a relationship with her sons. In November, her ex-husband Kevin Federline confirmed that she had been communicating with Sean Preston and Jayden. He noted that the boys were making efforts to rebuild their bond with their mother and emphasized that their affection for her has remained strong over the years.

Spears' life has also included career milestones. Last month, she sold her music catalog, though the financial details remain undisclosed. Despite professional achievements, the singer has faced personal ups and downs, with her representative emphasizing the support system being put in place to ensure her well-being following this latest incident.
