Harry Styles is opening up about an emotional moment that helped him feel a new sense of freedom while dancing in Berlin.
The 32 year old singer recently appeared on the *Q with Tom Power* podcast on Monday, March 9, where he spoke about the inspiration behind his new album *Kiss All the Time. Disco, Occasionally.* During the conversation, Styles reflected on a powerful experience he had while spending time in the German capital.
Styles explained that although he has always loved dancing, it was often difficult for him to fully relax in public spaces. As a global star, he said he was frequently aware that people around him might be recording him on their phones, which made it hard to feel completely comfortable.
That changed when he began visiting Berlin early last year. According to Styles, the city's club culture encouraged a different environment where people could express themselves freely without judgment.
He said that in Berlin, dancing is deeply rooted in the culture and everyone is encouraged to enjoy themselves and feel free. Being in that atmosphere allowed him to let his guard down in a way he had not experienced in a long time.
Styles recalled standing in the middle of a crowded dance floor with his hands raised and his eyes closed. In that moment, he realized that he was no longer looking around the room to see if anyone was filming him. Instead, he felt completely present and focused on the music.
The realization was deeply emotional for the singer. He said he felt as though he had entered a trance while dancing and listening to the music, and he remembered tears rolling down his face as he experienced a sense of freedom.
Styles described the moment as a beautiful experience that he shared with strangers on the dance floor who seemed to be going through similar feelings of release and transformation.
He said the impact of that night stayed with him for several weeks afterward. The experience left him with what he described as an afterglow and made him realize that the feeling of freedom was something he wanted to explore further, both personally and creatively.
That inspiration carried into his latest album, *Kiss All the Time. Disco, Occasionally.*, which features energetic dance inspired tracks such as "Dance No More" and the lead single "Aperture." The record also draws influence from artists including LCD Soundsystem.
Styles celebrated the album's release with a special one night only concert in Manchester on March 6. The performance was filmed and released as a Netflix concert special two days later.
The singer will also appear as both host and musical guest on Saturday Night Live on March 14. In May, he will begin his Together, Together concert residency, which includes performances across seven cities and a 30 show run at New York City's Madison Square Garden.
