Nicole Kidman is speaking publicly about her split from musician Keith Urban for the first time since their marriage officially ended earlier this year.

In a new interview with Variety, the Oscar-winning actress reflected briefly on the separation while promoting several upcoming projects, signaling a calm but firm focus on family and moving forward.

Kidman, 58, filed for divorce in September 2025, bringing an end to a nearly two-decade relationship with the country singer. The former couple finalized their divorce on Jan. 6, according to previously reported court filings. Despite the highly public nature of their relationship, Kidman indicated she intends to keep most details private.

"I'm always going to be moving toward what's good," she said when asked how she has been handling the past year. The actress added that gratitude for her family remains central to how she approaches life after the breakup. "We're still a family, and that's what matters to me," she explained.

Kidman and Urban first met in 2005, quickly becoming one of entertainment's most closely watched couples. They married the following year in Sydney and later welcomed two daughters, Sunday Rose and Faith Margaret. Over the years, the pair often balanced demanding global careers with raising their family largely out of the spotlight.

In the interview, Kidman emphasized that protecting her daughters remains her top priority as she navigates the next stage of life. She said she prefers not to discuss personal matters publicly out of respect for those involved, including Urban. Instead, she said she is concentrating on work, family time and stability.

As she prepares for a busy year of film and television releases, the actress suggested that stepping forward with optimism feels natural after a difficult period.

She noted that the coming months will include both professional commitments and quiet moments at home with her daughters. For now, she said, keeping life steady and positive is what matters most as 2026 begins. For Kidman that outlook means continuing forward with hope.
