Dakota Mortensen's team is providing his side of the tale.
A spokesperson for the Secret Lives of Mormon Wives star—who shares 23-month-old son Ever with The Bachelorette lead—addressed allegations that Mortensen and ex Taylor Frankie Paul were involved in a domestic dispute in February.
"His number one priority here is protecting [their 2-year-old son], Ever," his rep told Entertainment Weekly in a statement March 18, adding of the alleged incident, "He knew there was a possibility it would come out, but he was not going to be the one to do that because he has always wanted a decent relationship with Taylor."
According to the representative, Mortensen eventually "wants to co-parent well."
Police confirmed to People on March 16 that Mortensen and Paul are involved in a "domestic assault investigation," claiming "allegations have been made in both directions."
Season five of Secret Lives of Mormon Wives filming has been paused for two to three weeks due to the announcement, according to a production source.
Paul, who acknowledged her breakup with Mortensen in May 2025 after a three-year on-and-off relationship, recently spoke up about the "heavy time" in her life.
"My heart hurts to see it, to go through it, especially at this time," she told the magazine People. "Just the timing is difficult, and it is a major thing. I feel like every premiere that I've experienced, I've never enjoyed fully, so this is another one."
While she admits it is "extremely difficult" for her, Paul has opted to proceed with press appearances to promote her season of The Bachelorette, which begins March 22.
"I'm struggling for sure," she went on, "but also at the same time I feel like if I don't show up, then I'm just giving these opportunities away and not enjoying what we've worked on and something super exciting that's coming."
