On March 26, the Twilight actor announced his wife Tay Lautner's pregnancy by posting images of the couple standing with a sonogram of their unborn child.
In reference to the parents-to-be's similar names, he commented on Instagram, "What's better than two Taylor Lautners?"
Tay (born Taylor Dome) formally adopted her husband's surname when they married in 2023 after five years of dating, becoming another Taylor Lautner.
However, for the couple, who were introduced by Taylor's younger sister Makena Moore at a game night in 2018, having many people with the same name under one roof isn't as problematic as it appears.
"A lot of people just do 'boy Tay' and 'girl Tay,'" Taylor said as a guest on The Kelly Clarkson Show in 2022. "Either Taylor and Tay—boy Tay or girl Tay—works."
In fact, they even had some fun with Taylor's ex-girlfriend Taylor Swift, referring to the singer as "blonde girl Tay" when she hired the actor for her "I Can See You" music video in 2023.
"I know on paper, it sounds like a difficult situation, but I was never concerned about it," he said of Tay meeting his ex on an episode of The Squeeze at the time. "We're simply confident in our relationship. [My wife] is the coolest, chillest person I've ever known. She is also a huge fan of that person.
But that doesn't mean Tay is on Team Jacob in the Twilight Saga. After all, the podcaster had a childhood crush on Robert Pattinson, who played her husband's onscreen rival
Edward, which made it all the more serendipitous when Tay had a near-encounter with his former costar on a plane ride.
"Taylor told E! News in 2022 that she was visiting him on the set of Cuckoo, a TV show he made in London. "When she got to me, she was like, 'You'll never guess who I was sitting next to on the plane.'"
And, like his Twilight character, Taylor has always wanted to leave an impression on someone important.
"I absolutely love kids," he told Entertainment Tonight in 2016. "I love my family. So, one day, I very much look forward to that."
