Alex Duong is being remembered by friends and members of the entertainment community following his death at the age of 42 after a battle with cancer.

Duong, whose acting credits included appearances on shows such as Blue Bloods, The Young and the Restless, and Everybody Hates Chris, died on March 28 after living with a rare form of cancer for approximately a year. His passing was confirmed by his friend Hilarie Steele in a message shared through a GoFundMe page set up during his illness. He was 42.

In the post, Steele wrote that Duong died peacefully while surrounded by close friends and loved ones. She noted that he was comfortable at the time of his passing and was no longer in pain.

Steele also shared a personal detail about Duong's final days, explaining that he had the opportunity to say goodbye to his five year old daughter, Everest, whom he shared with his wife Christina. She described how much he valued his role as a father and how deeply he cherished his daughter throughout her life.

The message expressed the grief felt by those close to him while also acknowledging the support they had received from the public. Steele thanked those who contributed prayers, messages, and donations during a difficult period for Duong and his family.

Duong had been diagnosed in 2025 with alveolar rhabdomyosarcoma, a rare and aggressive cancer that affects soft tissue. According to a profile published by the Los

Angeles Times, the illness eventually impacted his vision, leading to the loss of sight in his left eye.

Before his diagnosis, Duong was actively pursuing a demanding schedule in comedy. He worked as a Door Guy at The Comedy Store and had plans to perform across multiple states throughout 2025. His tour included appearances in 41 states, with some shows featuring Daily Show correspondent Ronny Chieng.

Throughout his illness, Duong often spoke about the importance of the comedy community in his life. He described fellow comedians as a source of support during challenging times, noting that they understood the struggles of the profession and consistently showed up for one another.
