Donald Trump has spoken out about Tiger Woods following his recent DUI arrest, saying the golfer is "doing good" but continues to deal with ongoing physical pain.

According to The New York Post, Trump said he had spoken to Woods after the incident and offered a positive update on his condition. "I think he's doing great, he's doing good," he said, adding that "He tested negative for alcohol, as you know."

However, the president pointed to Woods' long history of injuries as a major factor in his current situation. "He is under a tremendous physical pressure from his various ailments, you know, the back and the leg," Trump said.

Emphasising the extent of those struggles, he added, "He lives a life of pain. He has a lot of pain... He's an amazing guy. He's an amazing athlete. He does have pain."

Woods, 50, was arrested after a rollover crash in Jupiter Island, Florida, where police reported signs of impairment and found two hydrocodone pills in his pocket. Despite this, a breathalyser test showed no alcohol in his system.

According to investigators, Woods said the crash occurred after he became distracted while looking at his phone and adjusting the radio, failing to notice a vehicle slowing ahead before attempting to avoid it.

He was subsequently charged with driving under the influence, property damage and refusal to submit to a lawful test.

Trump dismissed suggestions that alcohol played a role, stating, "He doesn't have an alcohol problem, but he does have pain," reinforcing his view that the golfer's condition is largely tied to his long-term injuries.

Woods has previously undergone multiple surgeries, including seven on his back and more than 20 on his leg, following years of injuries and past accidents.

The case remains ongoing, with Woods expected to appear in court later next month.
