Jana Duggar has broken her silence following the arrest of her brother, Joseph Duggar, who is facing child molestation charges.

In a statement shared on April 2, Jana said the situation had deeply affected their family. "We are deeply saddened and heartbroken by the situation involving my brother, Joseph," she wrote, adding that the news "came as a shock" as they "had no prior knowledge before it became public."

She also expressed support for the alleged victim, saying, "Our hearts are with the child who has been harmed - this is a grievous and unacceptable wrong. We continue to pray for the victim and for justice to be carried out."

Joseph, 31, was arrested in March and later extradited to Florida, where he faces charges related to alleged abuse of a 9-year-old girl in 2020. He has pleaded not guilty and requested a jury trial. A judge set his bond at $600,000, and as part of his release conditions, he is prohibited from having unsupervised contact with minors, including his own children.

The case has drawn significant attention, with several members of the Duggar family speaking publicly. Jason Duggar and his wife Maddie said they were "angered" by the situation and called for justice, while also asking for prayers for the victim and Joseph's children.

Meanwhile, Jinger Duggar reflected on the emotional toll during a podcast episode, saying, "You can't be prepared for news like this... the pain and hurt that's caused to us, but then to so many others, is just so hard."

The situation has also brought renewed attention to the Duggar family's past legal issues. Joseph's older brother, Josh Duggar, was convicted in 2021 for offenses involving child sexual abuse material.

In addition to the Florida case, Joseph and his wife Kendra are facing separate misdemeanour charges in Arkansas, including child endangerment. Authorities have indicated that these charges are unrelated to the Florida allegations.
