Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni are heading toward a high-stakes courtroom showdown after reportedly turning down a last-ditch effort to settle their ongoing legal dispute.
The former co-stars, whose conflict stems from allegations tied to their work on It Ends With Us, failed to reach an agreement despite direct intervention from a federal judge. The case is now set to proceed to trial next month, following unsuccessful negotiations held earlier this week.
Legal teams for both sides were asked to present updated settlement positions during separate calls with the court. However, those discussions yielded no breakthrough, with both camps declining to compromise.
The development comes shortly after a significant ruling that narrowed the scope of the lawsuit. A majority of the claims initially filed were dismissed, leaving only a handful of issues to be decided in court, including breach of contract and retaliation-related allegations.
Baldoni's legal representatives framed the court's earlier decision as a major win, emphasizing that several serious accusations had been removed from the case. They pointed to what they described as a careful judicial review of the evidence.
Lively, meanwhile, has maintained her stance, signaling she is prepared to present her full account at trial. In public remarks, she indicated that the legal action was driven by what she described as ongoing retaliation tied to workplace concerns.
The dispute, which began in late 2024, has grown increasingly complex, with countersuits, public statements and industry attention intensifying the situation. At one stage, Baldoni filed a substantial countersuit that was later dismissed, further shaping the legal landscape both sides now face.
Efforts to resolve the matter outside court have been ongoing for months, including prior meetings between the parties. Each attempt has ended without agreement, underscoring the deep divide between the two sides.
With a trial date now firmly on the horizon, both Lively and Baldoni appear set to confront the remaining claims in open court, where the next chapter of their legal battle will unfold.
