Taylor Selfridge's and Cory Wharton's family is facing another health catastrophe.
According to Taylor, her 3-year-old daughter Maya, who was born with tricuspid atresia, a rare congenital cardiac condition that causes difficulty in blood flow to the lungs, has been in the hospital for 16 days.
"This is the longest stay/most stressful one we've ever had, and that's saying a lot," the 31-year-old wrote in a Snapchat post published by Us Weekly on April 8. "She's getting much better, hoping to get out of here soon."
Taylor, who has a 5-year-old daughter Mila with Cory, wrote in another post that Maya is "doing good," but that she will "need therapy after this."
"She's doing so much better," the former MTV star explained. "We're hoping to get out of here this week."
Maya's hospitalization comes six months after her second open-heart surgery, which included the Fontan treatment to enhance blood flow.
"Right now we're still in the recovery phase, which has its own set of challenges, every time you think things are getting better," Cory said on Instagram back in October. "A new challenge arises, but we'll just keep tackling them as they come."
Maya was released from the hospital 13 days after her treatment, and The Challenge star stated that the family "finally can turn this page and move forward."
"I'm so relieved to be done with that," Cory wrote in another post. "But we're done. We fixed my little girl's heart, and to the cardiologist and surgeons, thank you!!!"
Taylor's and Cory's journey has been long, having originally met in 2017 while filming Ex on the Beach. After all, Maya was diagnosed with tricuspid atresia while Taylor was still pregnant.
"We knew she was going to require at least two open heart surgeries," Cory shared on Instagram last year, noting that Maya's first procedure in 2022 "didn't go as planned."
"We were in the ICU unit for 14 days when we were supposed to be out after 4-5 days," he said. "So I think a lot of the emotion is coming from that & a little bit of PTSD."
Cory, who also has an 8-year-old daughter named Ryder with ex Cheyenne Floyd, described his youngest as a "warrior."
He said, "MAYA'S GOT THIS."
