Princess Diana's younger brother, Charles Spencer, has married archaeologist and historian Dr. Cat Jarman in a private ceremony in Sedona, Arizona.
The wedding took place on May 15.
Spencer, 61, and Jarman, 43, shared a joint statement with PEOPLE: "We both feel so incredibly lucky to have progressed from being colleagues, to friendship, to deep love and connection. Each stage of our relationship has been underpinned by laughter and we share a passion for life."
The couple first met in 2021 when Spencer was asked to review Jarman's book River Kings, which explores Viking history.
Their professional collaboration grew into friendship and eventually romance, confirmed publicly in late 2024. Together, they co-host the history podcast The Rabbit Hole Detectives and have worked side by side on archaeological digs.
For the ceremony, Jarman wore a pale blue sleeveless gown with metallic heels, her hair styled in a braided crown, and carried white roses. Spencer chose a dark suit with a light blue shirt worn open at the collar. Photographs showed the pair smiling and holding hands in the desert landscape.
This marks Spencer's fourth marriage. He was previously married to Victoria Lockwood, Caroline Freud, and Karen Spencer, with whom he finalized a divorce in late 2025. He is father to seven children, while Jarman has two sons from her previous marriage.
Jarman has spoken about how unusual it felt to move from her life in Norway to Althorp, Spencer's 13,000-acre estate, describing the shift as stepping into a world far removed from what she was used to.
Spencer has said that Jarman brings out the best in him, noting that with her he feels no need to pretend or hide who he is.
