Joy Behar will have a different point of view for a while.
The View's longstanding co-host will take a short break from the show to travel to Europe for a holiday before gracing the stage to act in the play My First Ex-Husband.
"I fly to Paris this week, and then I go take the Chunnel to London after a week," Joy said on The View's Behind the Table podcast May 26. "And I'll be in London a second week doing my play, My First Ex-Husband, at the Boulevard Theatre in the West End."
"We have Jackie Hoffman and me, the two American women talking, and then we have two British actresses," she said. "Doesn't that sound like fun?"
Fortunately, the 83-year-old will be replaced by several famous faces after her appearance on the May 28th program, her final one before leaving.
Brian Teta, the executive producer of Behind the Table and The View, stated that comedian and The Talk alum Sheryl Underwood would fill in for Joy.
"Next week we're going to have Kara Swisher, who's very funny, very smart, and she'll be great," Brian continued, adding that rotating panelist Ana Navarro—who usually only appears on Mondays and Fridays—will also "be here some days."
And it's not just Ana who is changing up her schedule; Whoopi Goldberg will also appear on Fridays, her regular day off from the midday show.
"I don't think she knows yet," Brian said, "but I'll let her know that she's going to be here."
And while Joy—who has cohosted The View since its first season, only missing seasons 17 and 18—has occasionally taken longer breaks from the show, she has no interest in retiring full-time and leaving behind co-hosts Ana, Whoopi, Sunny Hostin, Sara Haines, and Alyssa Farah Griffin.
"I just really like to write and create stuff," she explained to Entertainment Tonight in September. "Creative people don't really retire."
As she viewed it, "They don't resign, they just keep going."
