Jennifer Aniston and Lisa Kudrow have reunited on screen, sitting down together for the season 24 premiere of Variety's long-running Actors on Actors interview series.
The two former Friends costars covered their current projects, Aniston's The Morning Show and Kudrow's The Comeback, as well as their decade-long run on the beloved NBC sitcom.
The conversation took an unexpectedly emotional turn when Kudrow revealed that the latest season of The Comeback had been filmed on the very same soundstage where Friends shot its final episodes. Kudrow's voice broke as she tried to articulate what the discovery meant to her.
"Because knowing this is the end of Valerie Cherish and The Comeback, and that was where it was the end of Friends," she said, visibly struggling to hold herself together.
Aniston, equally blindsided by the emotion, reached immediately for a tissue. "S---!" she exclaimed, before apologising and urging Kudrow to take a tissue as well.
The pair laughed and wept simultaneously, needing a brief pause before they could continue the conversation.
Kudrow also shared that her son Julian, photographed on the Friends set as a toddler, made his acting debut on that same soundstage while filming The Comeback.
Aniston called it a genuinely wonderful surprise, adding that Julian had clearly absorbed something from all those years spent around the production as a child.
It was not the first time the two women had appeared together on Actors on Actors, a 2020 virtual episode saw them reminisce warmly about their habit of breaking character and dissolving into laughter during filming.
Season 24 of the series pairs several other prominent television figures ahead of Emmy nominations, which are scheduled to be announced on July 8.
Additional episodes will feature Kit Harington and Peter Dinklage, Kerry Washington and Tony Goldwyn, and Elizabeth Banks and Josh Hutcherson among others.
The full Aniston and Kudrow interview, for those who missed the live premiere, will be available on Variety's YouTube channel at 11:59 p.m. ET.
