George Knight unexpectedly left Love Island UK only three days after joining the competition series alongside Yasmin Hadlow as season 13's first set of bombshells on June 1, leaving viewers wondering what transpired to cause the professional footballer to leave early.
On June 4, a Love Island spokesman notified E! News that George had left the villa for private reasons.
Despite his abrupt departure, George, 28, had already made an effect on his new castmates by startling them on day two of the experience.
After host Maya Jama informed George and Yasmin that they would be responsible for selecting two Islanders to send home in 24 hours, the Dorking Wanderers FC midfielder seemed game for the surprise dumping.
"I don't seek drama, but I'm quite naturally competitive," George admitted. "If there's something in my way, I want to put my best foot forward."
After all, George admitted he had huge ambitions to play the field during his time in Majorca, Spain, where the show has been filming since its inaugural season in 2015.
As George stated, "I don't think I'd make any rash decisions." I'd look into choices. You don't want to go too deep too soon. I'm open to getting to know everyone, but as the weeks pass, I'll figure it out."
And George's departure is hardly the only casting change in the Love Island universe this summer.
Vasana Montgomery, a Love Island USA participant, was pulled from the cast before the series' premiere on June 2 owing to alleged use of the N-word in resurfacing footage.
"I'd want to address a handful of videos from my teenage years that have recently surfaced. In those films, I made a racial insult. There is no excuse, and I sincerely apologize," the 25-year-old wrote in a June 3 Instagram Story. "I take full responsibility for what I said and understand why it has hurt and upset people."
In light of Vasana's departure, producers brought in five female Islanders instead of the six previously announced stars. To make up for the uneven number of male and female cast members, initial competitor Gabriel Vasconcelos was brought into the Fiji Villa as a bombshell.
