Cristiano Ronaldo and Georgina Rodríguez have opened up about their decision to marry in the living room of their home in Portugal, choosing a private ceremony rather than a lavish celebration.

The couple exchanged vows on August 11, ten years after first meeting, with their five children present. Rodríguez explained that holding the ceremony at home made the occasion more personal because it took place in the space where their family spends everyday life.

"We've chosen to do it in the living room of our house here, where we have breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and where we live the reality of our lives," Rodríguez told Vogue.

The model said she once imagined having a much grander wedding. However, as her life changed, she came to value the idea of sharing the occasion privately with Ronaldo and their children.

"When I was a little girl, I dreamt of the biggest castle, the biggest carriage, the longest dress and a crown full of diamonds," she said. "And now I'm saying: no. I want something intimate, with my partner and our children, at home."

Rodríguez explained that the couple already has access to luxury in their everyday lives, making an intimate celebration more meaningful to them.

"Castles, houses, islands, horses, cars: We have all of that within reach every day. But something intimate, that's more unusual for us," she said.

She also wanted their children to associate the family home with the memory of their parents' wedding. "In 30 years' time I want the children to think, 'Something wonderful happened at this table. The wedding vows of our parents.'"

Ronaldo responded with a joke about the furniture potentially changing over time, saying, "It probably won't be the same table. We might change the decor."

According to Rodríguez, the ceremony delivered exactly the atmosphere they wanted. "It was exactly as I'd imagined it," she said.
