Sean "Diddy" Combs was reportedly taken by ambulance from a New Jersey federal prison to a hospital over the weekend after suffering a head injury.

The 56-year-old music mogul was transported from FCI Fort Dix early Saturday morning, October 10, according to TMZ. The circumstances surrounding the injury remain unclear.

A source familiar with the situation confirmed to PEOPLE that Combs was taken to the hospital, describing the injury as non-life-threatening. He reportedly returned to the prison later that morning, where he was placed in solitary confinement.

Combs' spokesperson, Juda Engelmayer, said the team was seeking more information about the incident. "We are aware of the reports concerning Sean Combs and are working to confirm the circumstances," Engelmayer said. "Sean's health and well-being are our immediate concern, and we appreciate everyone who has reached out."

The prison has not publicly commented on the reported incident.

The hospital trip comes amid renewed scrutiny of Combs' life behind bars. Recent reports have alleged that Combs received special treatment at the low-security facility, including access to alcohol, massages, specially prepared meals and contraband mobile phones.

NBC News previously reported that four men who had spent time in the same prison unit as Combs described privileges they said set him apart from other inmates.

Combs' representatives have pushed back against the reports, arguing that the media has portrayed ordinary aspects of prison life as extraordinary.

The reported injury also follows disciplinary action against Combs. According to the New York Post, prison officials sanctioned him for "disruptive conduct" and removed 41 days of good-conduct time after allegations involving a contraband phone. His release date was subsequently pushed back from January 2028 to March 2, 2028.
