Kim Kardashian says her father, Robert Kardashian Sr., left her with a message she has never forgotten: he believed she would be okay, even as he faced the final weeks of his life.

The reality star shared details of their last full conversation in Citizen Kim: The Woman Who Created the Future, a new biography by Jonathan Van Meter. Robert died in September 2003, aged 59, just weeks after being diagnosed with esophageal cancer. Kim was 22.

"The last thing my dad ever said to me was, 'I know you're going to be good. I can see it. It's as if I can see what your whole life is going to be like,'" she recalled.

Kim said her father did not explain what he meant and was drifting in and out of consciousness. The two were lying together on an L-shaped couch, watching a movie, when he placed his hand on her leg and reassured her.

"He said, 'You'll be fine. But take care of the other ones. And make sure your brother's good.'" The message included a reminder to look after her siblings, Kourtney and Khloé Kardashian, and their younger brother, Rob, who was 16 when their father died.

Kim also remembered what she told Robert during his final moments, when he could no longer communicate. Knowing his condition was deteriorating, she thanked him for the lessons he had taught her, from being a good person to helping her with homework. She also spoke about carrying those lessons into the way she would raise her own children.

Robert had four children with Kris Jenner, whom he married in 1978. The couple divorced in 1991, and Kris later married Caitlyn Jenner, with whom she had daughters Kendall and Kylie.
