The film industry has lost one of its most enigmatic stars. Val Kilmer, the celebrated actor known for his roles in Top Gun, Batman Forever, and The Doors, has died at the age of 65. His passing was confirmed by his daughter, Mercedes, who revealed he succumbed to pneumonia, years after battling throat cancer.

Tributes from Hollywood's biggest names have poured in, reflecting on Kilmer's extraordinary talent and complex persona. Director Francis Ford Coppola called him "a wonderful person to work with and a joy to know," while Ron Howard praised his "awesome range as an actor." Michael Mann, who directed Heat, described Kilmer's performances as "brilliant" and "powerful."

Kilmer's career was marked by versatility. He seamlessly transformed into Jim Morrison in The Doors, brought legendary gunslinger Doc Holliday to life in Tombstone, and took on the role of the Caped Crusader in Batman Forever. Despite his on-set reputation for being difficult, he defended himself by insisting that he simply cared deeply about his craft.

After his tracheotomy affected his voice, Kilmer's acting career slowed, but he made an emotional return in Top Gun: Maverick, reuniting with Tom Cruise for a poignant final performance. His 2021 documentary Val chronicled his journey, offering a deeply personal look at his triumphs and struggles.

Beyond acting, Kilmer was a poet, an artist, and an uncompromising visionary. His charisma, intensity, and unconventional approach to his roles made him unforgettable. As Hollywood mourns, one thing is certain: Val Kilmer's legacy will live on, forever etched in cinematic history.
