In A24's latest fantasy-adventure film "The Legend of Ochi," young stars Finn Wolfhard and Helena Zengel found themselves in the unique position of working alongside veteran actor Willem Dafoe. The film, which follows a young girl's journey to return a forest creature to its family, marks another milestone in Wolfhard's expanding career beyond his "Stranger Things" fame.

During recent interviews, both actors revealed that Dafoe's presence on set created unforgettable moments, particularly involving his costume challenges. "I remember, it was specifically with the armor, it was brutal," Wolfhard explained. "It was too small for him. So it would cut his skin up, it would be really uncomfortable... It would just make me laugh."

For Wolfhard, separating Dafoe from his iconic role as Norman Osborn proved initially difficult. "For the first few days, it was hard not to see Norman Osborn," the 22-year-old actor told PEOPLE, referencing Dafoe's memorable portrayal of the Green Goblin in Spider-Man films.

Zengel echoed similar sentiments about their co-star's natural charisma. "I just feel like he's the funniest guy, like, he doesn't even have to make a joke, he's just a goofy guy," she shared. The young actress emphasized Dafoe's remarkable consistency throughout filming, noting his unwavering commitment regardless of multiple takes.

What particularly impressed both actors was Dafoe's continued passion for his craft despite his extensive filmography. Wolfhard observed, "What's really amazing about Willem is that, no matter how long he's been acting, he still cares about it like it's the first thing he's ever done."

The experience provided valuable learning opportunities for Wolfhard, who recently made his directorial debut with "Hell of a Summer." He treasured their conversations about Dafoe's early theater career in 1970s and 1980s New York. "I really got to watch him, and through watching him, I feel like I learned a lot about acting and the craft of acting... He's just always been someone who I think just is in it for the art of it."

"The Legend of Ochi," described as reminiscent of classic Amblin Entertainment films like "The Goonies" and "E.T.," showcases the multi-generational talent of its cast. Alongside Wolfhard, Zengel, and Dafoe, the film also features Emily Watson and the titular Ochi creatures themselves.

"The Legend of Ochi" is currently playing in theaters nationwide.
