The global box office is roaring this summer, with Universal’s “Jurassic World Rebirth” leading the pack by smashing past the $750 million milestone. After just five weekends, the rebooted dinosaur epic has amassed a thunderous $766 million worldwide, riding high on strong international appeal.
Starring Scarlett Johansson, Jonathan Bailey, and Mahershala Ali, the latest entry in the Jurassic saga continues Universal’s blockbuster legacy, although it still trails behind the Chris Pratt-led trilogy, each installment of which soared past $1 billion globally. International audiences are driving the film’s current surge, with overseas markets contributing a substantial $448 million to the total. Among the standout territories are the United Kingdom and Ireland with $42 million, Mexico at $34 million, and Germany with $28 million.
“Jurassic World Rebirth” is one of only three major Hollywood releases this year to surpass the $750 million benchmark, joining Disney’s “Lilo & Stitch” remake, which has grossed $1 billion, and Warner Bros.’s “Minecraft Movie” at $955 million.
Meanwhile, Brad Pitt has crossed a personal career milestone. His new racing drama, “F1,” has racked up $545 million globally after six weeks in theaters, making it his highest-grossing film ever. The Apple-backed title has now outpaced his previous best, 2013’s “World War Z” ($540 million), and has easily eclipsed the performance of Apple’s earlier theatrical efforts, including “Killers of the Flower Moon” ($158 million) and “Napoleon” ($221 million).
Another major player in the global marketplace is Warner Bros.’ “Superman,” which has reached $550 million worldwide after four weekends. With $316 million from North America and $235 million overseas, the film has become DC’s first significant commercial success in years. However, its international performance has been more modest, with North America accounting for nearly 60% of total revenue—an unusual split for global blockbusters. Top overseas markets include the U.K. ($32 million), Mexico ($21.8 million), and Brazil ($15 million).
Elsewhere, Marvel’s “The Fantastic Four: First Steps” brought in $39.6 million from 52 territories during its second weekend, dropping 58% from its debut. So far, the superhero relaunch has earned $368.7 million globally, with $170.3 million internationally and $198.4 million in North America.
Among newcomers, “The Bad Guys 2” from Universal and DreamWorks Animation made a solid entry with $44.5 million worldwide, including $22.8 million domestic and $16.3 million from 58 international markets. Voice talent includes Sam Rockwell, Marc Maron, and Craig Robinson in a sequel that sees the reformed outlaws pulled back for one last heist.
Finally, Paramount’s “The Naked Gun” reboot, led by Liam Neeson and Pamela Anderson, opened with a combined $28.5 million globally — $17 million from North America and $11.5 million across 46 international markets — offering a comedic alternative in an action-packed summer box office lineup.
