On May 16, Post Malone made a striking debut at the ACM Awards held at the Ford Center at The Star in Frisco, Texas. The 28-year-old artist kicked off his performance with a classic country tune, seamlessly transitioning into his new single "I Had Some Help," featuring Morgan Wallen. Malone donned a white Dallas Cowboys jersey, while his band sported bright blue versions of the NFL uniform.
Although Wallen did not join him on stage, fans were treated to a surprise a cappella rendition of The Allman Brothers Band's "Ramblin' Man" with host Reba McEntire. Afterward, in a light-hearted backstage interview with Bobby Bones, Malone quipped, "My bootyhole was clenched the entire performance."
Anticipation for Malone's foray into country music had been building since he teased his collaboration with Wallen on social media in March. He later performed the track live with Wallen at Stagecoach. At the festival, Malone also showcased his country music affinity by performing covers with Brad Paisley, Sara Evans, and Dwight Yoakam.
Though this was his first ACM performance, Malone had previously honored Joe Diffie at the 2023 CMA Awards, performing "John Deere Green" and "Pickup Man" alongside Wallen and HARDY. According to Billboard, Malone revealed during an April Twitch livestream that he is working on a country album. "Country record is coming. I keep singing a song that we made while I was in Nashville. It's so f---ing sick, but it's not out," he said.
While no official announcement has been made, Malone has already received support from country music star Wynonna Judd. In an October 2023 interview with Entertainment Tonight, Judd praised Malone's live performance, calling it "one of the best shows I've ever seen." She also noted, "He's got the most tender heart, he's got a baby, he's in love, he's happy, he's pretty darn normal in a sense because he's very present."
