Adele has revealed that she is planning a significant break from music once her current series of live performances concludes. Speaking with German broadcaster ZDF, the 16-time Grammy winner confirmed that she has "no plans for new music, at all. I want a big break after this and I think I want to do other creative things just for a little while."

This announcement comes as Adele prepares to resume her "Weekends With Adele" residency in Las Vegas this October and perform her first live shows in mainland Europe in eight years with a series of stadium concerts in Munich, Germany.

The British singer's hiatus will follow her performances at the Munich Messe arena, a bespoke 80,000-capacity venue constructed specifically for her shows from August 2 to 24. These concerts mark her first mainland European gigs since 2016 and will precede the end of her extended Las Vegas residency, which began in November 2022 after delays due to production issues and the Covid-19 pandemic.

Reflecting on the design of her upcoming Munich shows, Adele noted, "The screen is enormous," and emphasizing that the numerous cameras would make "80,000 people feel like it's just me and one of them."

During her interview with ZDF, Adele also opened up about her struggles with fame. "I miss everything about before I was famous," she said. "I don't like being famous. I love that I get to make music all the time whenever I want and people are receptive to it and like it, because that's pretty unimaginable... that never happens to people. But, the fame side of it, I absolutely hate."

Fans have expressed mixed reactions on social media to Adele's decision to take a break. One user commented, "We weren't expecting music for like a decade but damn this still stings," while another wrote, "She doesn't even release music often. So why break? We need sad songs to make our already miserable life sadder."

As she steps away from the limelight, Adele remains one of the most successful and beloved artists of her generation, known for hits like "Rolling in the Deep," "Someone Like You," and "Hello."
