The Voice is getting a boost from Snoop Dogg. The "Gin and Juice" rapper will return as a coach for the 28th season of the NBC singing competition series after a brief break, the network revealed on April 23.
Michael Bublé, Kelsea Ballerini, John Legend, and Adam Levine currently make up the panel, but Snoop's other coaches for the next cycle have not yet been revealed.
When Snoop joined the series in 2024, he effortlessly captivated audiences with his mix of humor and poignant moments, but he had previously acknowledged that he didn't see himself occupying the famous red chair for very long.
“I had a great time on The Voice; I'm not going to front,” he said at a conference in September, according to OK Magazine. “But when I did the contract, I thought, ‘I'm gonna do this for one year and get up outta here.’”
However, after meeting his colleagues and coaches, Snoop seemed to warm up to the idea of staying into season 26.
"Once I arrived on the set, I fell in love with Reba McEntire and Gwen Stefani, and, amazingly, Michael Bublé and I are like lost brothers," he added.
Snoop explained that he was interested in the position because he wanted to use it to support up-and-coming musicians and demonstrate his own skills.
During an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon in May, he said, "This is a great opportunity for me to show that I really understand music and to be a real coach." He also highlighted the opportunity to provide guidance to some of these artists who could become today's next big thing.”
And Snoop was ready to engage with artists from all kinds of genres, stating that he enjoys “all forms of music.”
“That's why I feel like people are attracted to me, because I'm not one-sided,” he concluded. "I am more than just for you. I stand for all of you. The people's champion is me.
