Scotty McCreery, the former American Idol winner, paused his concert to intervene in a disturbing incident at the Colorado State Fair in Pueblo on Saturday, August 24th. The 30-year-old country singer was performing his song "It Matters To Her" when he noticed a man in the audience allegedly assaulting a woman.

Concertgoer Jessica Rosario captured the moment on video, which shows McCreery abruptly stopping his performance after witnessing the alleged assault. "Scotty was just talking about his wife [Gabi Dugal's] favorite song when he saw a man hit a woman in the crowd," Rosario told People. "He immediately stopped the show and had security remove the man."

In the video, McCreery can be heard addressing the situation directly. "That's a lady you just hit, sir," he said, pointing to the man in the audience. "Absolutely not. You just hit the lady. Police? Security? Is she okay? Get the heck out of here." He then expressed his disbelief, adding, "On God's green earth, at a Scotty McCreery show? What are you doing? Y'all let the cop know who hit the lady. That's absolutely unacceptable."

After confirming with security that the situation was under control, McCreery continued, "Whoever you are, that's the definition of a coward, hitting a lady. Get the heck out of here." He briefly checked in with the audience before resuming his set.

The identities of the man and woman involved have not been disclosed, and it remains unclear if the man was arrested. Olga Robak, the director of communications for The Colorado Department of Agriculture, confirmed the incident to People, stating that the Colorado State Fair security assisted with crowd control. "This incident is still under investigation, and we cannot comment further," she added.

A representative for McCreery declined to comment on the incident, and the Colorado State Fair has not provided additional information as of Tuesday.
