Drake has officially postponed the final four dates of his Australia and New Zealand tour, citing a "scheduling conflict." The affected concerts include Brisbane on March 4, Sydney on March 7, and two shows in Auckland on March 15 and 16.
"We are actively working on rescheduling these dates along with adding some additional shows," Drake's representatives confirmed in a statement to Rolling Stone Australia-New Zealand. They assured fans that "all tickets for the affected shows will remain valid for the new dates" and that refunds would be available for those unable to attend the rescheduled performances.
The postponement follows speculation after tickets for the affected dates were removed from ticketing platforms. Some reports have suggested logistical challenges related to transporting the rapper's large concert set between cities may have played a role in the decision. A source told TMZ, "The set for Drake's concerts is massive, and it would have been super difficult to haul around all that equipment between those cities in that space of time."
However, the decision has sparked controversy among fans, particularly after Drake was seen partying at Brisbane nightclub The Tax Office until 4 AM before flying out of the country. Reports indicate he invited between 300 to 400 women to the private event, which required guests to surrender their phones before entering. Hours later, he departed Brisbane at 6:40 AM, making stops in Fiji and Hawaii before returning to Toronto.
Some fans expressed frustration over the sudden cancellation. "Why did Drake just cancel the rest of his tour and fly back to Canada?" one person questioned on social media. Another added, "Drake does this every tour, why are y'all surprised?" Reports suggest discussions about the cancellation had begun days prior, though fans were not officially informed until later.
Live Nation confirmed that the postponed dates will be rescheduled, with a spokesperson stating, "We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your patience. Drake and the entire team have had an incredible time on these shows and are excited to return soon."
Adding to the timing of the postponement, the tour coincided with Kendrick Lamar's Super Bowl Halftime performance, where Lamar performed his diss track "Not Like Us" to an audience of over 100 million. Meanwhile, Drake has recently shifted focus to his new joint album with PartyNextDoor, $ome $exy $ongs 4U.
While Drake has yet to personally comment on the situation, his team maintains that rescheduled dates will be announced soon.
