For season seven of Black Mirror, Netflix unveiled 19 new cast members, including Awkwafina, Paul Giamatti, Issa Rae, Rashida Jones, Tracee Ellis Ross, and more. In 2025, the new season premieres.
Netflix revealed a number of celebrities that will be starring in the mind-bending anthology series, six months after revealing the Charlie Brooker-created series will return for season seven in 2025.
On September 19, the Black Mirror account on X, formerly Twitter, released a mysterious video revealing the identities of nineteen cast members, including Awkwafina, Chris O'Dowd, Emma Corrin, Issa Rae, Paul Giamatti, Rashida Jones, Tracee Ellis Ross, and others.
The brief video, "TCKR_Confidential_NotForDistribution.mp4", featured an old computer screen with a caption that fit the enigmatic tone of the show. The announcement began by stating, "An error has occurred," and asked the audience to "press any key to continue." There were numerous Easter eggs for the fans to discover.
After that, the video reboots and introduces all of the new cast members for this season, interspersed with cryptic remarks like "Lonely old place, isn't it?" "Oh dear—is the entire internet wrong?" "Who drank my almond milk?" along with "I'll be yours forever more."
Netflix also hinted at what viewers might anticipate from the next six episodes when the new season was first announced in March, teasing, "Six new stories, but one looks a little familiar."
A continuation of the season four episode "USS Callister," which starred Jesse Plemons as a reclusive video game executive who builds his own simulation to terrorize his subordinates, was confirmed to be included in the upcoming installment during the Next on Netflix event held in London.
In addition to Jimmy Simpson, Billy Magnussen, Asy Ikhile, and Marianna Brooks, who will all be back for the upcoming season, the episode costarred Cristian Milioti.
The anthology series, which debuted on Netflix in 2011, has won six Emmys in its lengthy run, with two of those wins going to "USS Callister."
As for season seven, Brooker is excited for viewers to see what else he and the program have in store.
