Netflix has officially announced that Squid Game will return for its third and final season on June 27, 2025. The hit Korean thriller, which remains the streaming giant's most-watched series, will conclude its gripping storyline this summer. "I am beyond excited to be writing this letter to announce the date for Season 2 and share the news of Season 3, the final season," series creator Hwang Dong-hyuk wrote in an emotional message to fans.

"The fierce clash between [Gi-hun and Front Man's] two worlds will continue into the series finale... We'll do our best to make sure we bring you yet another thrill ride." Since its premiere in 2021, Squid Game has dominated Netflix's charts. The first season set records, becoming the first-ever series to surpass 100 million accounts in viewership, with over 1.65 billion hours streamed in its first 28 days.

The second season, which debuted in December 2024, has already drawn in 173.7 million viewers in just over a month. Netflix's Chief Content Officer Bela Bajaria confirmed the final season's release during the streamer's 2025 slate presentation, where she also highlighted other major upcoming titles, including The Old Guard 2, Tom Hardy's Havoc, and Guillermo del Toro's Frankenstein.

Season 3 picks up after the shocking Season 2 finale, which saw Gi-hun (Lee Jung-jae) left "in utter despair" after the Front Man (Lee Byung-hun) brutally killed his best friend, Jung-bae (Lee Seo-hwan), in front of him. According to Netflix, Gi-hun remains determined to take down the sinister organization behind the games, even as the stakes grow deadlier. "Gi-hun persists with his goal to put an end to the game, while the Front Man continues onto his next move," Netflix teased in an official synopsis.

"The surviving players' choices will lead to graver consequences with each round. Can we hope for humanity in the cruelest of realities?" A post-credit teaser at the end of Season 2 hinted at new challenges ahead, showing players 353, 100, and 096 approaching a familiar but unsettling sight—a massive doll facing another male doll beside a red and green traffic light, setting the stage for yet another deadly round.

Returning cast members include Yim Si-wan, Kang Ha-neul, Wi Ha-jun, Park Gyu-young, Park Sung-hoon, Yang Dong-geun, Kang Ae-sim, Jo Yuri, Lee David, and Roh Jae-won. With Season 3 promising an intense final showdown, fans worldwide are eagerly awaiting the moment when all their questions will finally be answered. As Netflix put it: "The final answer is revealed June 27."
