At the glittering New York City premiere of Netflix's new comedy series The Four Seasons, legendary actor Alan Alda made an unexpected appearance—and stole the show. The series, created by the ever-sharp Tina Fey, is a modern reboot of Alda's 1981 romantic comedy film of the same name. It was a full-circle moment that saw the creator of the original masterpiece publicly endorse the next-generation adaptation in front of an enthusiastic crowd.

Alda, now 88, took to the microphone during the event to express his admiration for Fey and her creative team. "I just wanted to tell Tina in front of as many people as I can how beautiful the job is that she did on this series," he declared, prompting roaring applause. Alda praised the show not only as a worthy reboot but as a timely reinvention, calling it something only Tina and her team could have pulled off.

Visibly moved, Fey knelt to kiss Alda on the cheek in a tender moment of mutual respect between creative giants. "Alan, you stole my thunder," she quipped. "Really, I was about to say that it cannot be overstated what an absolute icon and influence you are."

The original Four Seasons film, both written and directed by Alda, followed three couples navigating love, friendship, and change through the course of a year. The 2024 reboot puts a modern spin on that narrative, focusing on long-time friends sharing four vacations together. It boasts a stellar cast including Fey herself, alongside Colman Domingo, Will Forte, and Steve Carell.

As streaming audiences count down the days to its May 1 release on Netflix, Alda's heartfelt endorsement has only raised anticipation. His words served as a bridge between eras of comedy, affirming that timeless stories, when handled with care, can continue to bloom for new generations.
