Barry Christian has been found dead two days after he was reported missing, authorities have confirmed. He was 54.

Christian was last seen on April 28 in Sayre, Oklahoma. When he failed to show up for a scheduled meeting the next day, he was reported missing, prompting a search.

On April 30, investigators located his vehicle near the Sandy Sanders Wildlife Management Area in Beckham County. According to officials, his truck was found in a remote area near a ravine, with his body inside.

Authorities later confirmed the identity, and his remains were taken to the medical examiner's office, where the cause of death will be determined. Officials have not yet said what led to his death, and the investigation is ongoing.

Christian had been running as a Republican candidate for District 38 in the Oklahoma State Senate. Just days before he disappeared, he had been actively campaigning and engaging with the community.

His family has since spoken out, asking for privacy and support during this time. His daughter, Brooklyn, said, "Please pray for our family and friends. Our world is upside down right now."

She added, "We are still not sure of everything that happened, so please act with grace and treat my dad's legacy with dignity."

She also thanked those who helped search for him, saying, "We are extremely grateful to everyone who assisted in the search efforts."

Another of his daughters described him as a devoted father, saying he "wanted nothing more than to provide and protect his family."

Tributes have also come in from members of the community and others in the political race. One of his opponents, Joe Buchanan, said he was "devastated" by the news and extended condolences to Christian's family.
