A royal expert claims that King Charles is having some difficulties removing his disgraced brother Prince Andrew from his home. According to reports, the disgraced scion of the late Queen Elizabeth, who was identified in the Jeffrey Epstein document dump in January, has been in danger of being kicked out of Royal Lodge for some time.
After news of the 64-year-old Duke of York's friendship with the late financier who was a pedophile surfaced in 2019, he has been fighting to remain at the $37 million property.
Andrew has been neglecting payments to maintain the property — which requires an annual $503,000 per year for upkeep, Us Weekly reports.
Royal commentator Ian Pelham Turner claims that Charles is struggling to regain the keys to the Grade II listed property, which Prince Andrew is reportedly fighting to maintain as a senior royal. Pelham Turner believes Charles is unwilling to spend money on Andrew, as it would not go well with the queen. He also notes that the queen had reportedly asked Charles to look after Andrew, who was considered her favorite son.
For years, Andrew has been in danger of losing his place at the Royal Lodge. He resides there with Sarah Ferguson, his ex-wife, who suffers from skin cancer. AP
There have apparently been numerous complaints about the Royal Lodge, including "wear and tear" and problems with moisture all over the building.
The building also has peeling paint, crumbling wall plaster, and cracks that "are becoming worse on the brickwork," according to the outlet.
According to reports, the $37 million property needs $503,000 in maintenance each year.
After agreeing to a 75-year lease the year before, the disgraced Duke of York moved into the royal mansion on Windsor Castle's grounds in 2004.
The Queen Mother had previously owned the Royal Lodge until her passing in 2002. Andrew and Sarah Ferguson, his ex-wife, reside in the 31-room mansion in Windsor.
After agreeing to a 75-year lease the year before, the disgraced royal moved into the royal residence and has been there ever since.
According to reports, Charles had insisted that his brother leave the property and move into the royal home that was once owned by Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, Frogmore Cottage.
Since his late mother, Queen Elizabeth II, famously stripped him of his royal and military honors, Andrew has maintained a low profile. His HRH title is no longer with him.
