Kit Harington may not be done with Jon Snow just yet.
The Game of Thrones star has opened the door to the possibility of returning to the character, two years after HBO shelved plans for a spinoff focused on what happened to Jon after the original series ended.
Speaking on the Happy Sad Confused podcast with Josh Horowitz, Harington said he now feels differently about the character after spending several years taking on roles outside the world of Westeros.
"I think I needed to do some other stuff like outside of it and it's been a number of years and I've done all these different things," he said. "Some have been seen more widely than others. But I've done enough of them now that I don't feel defined by just that character."
Harington explained that Game of Thrones became such a huge part of his identity that fans would often call him "Jon Snow" when they saw him in public. He said the experience created what he described as a "weird personality split" and made him want to establish himself beyond the role.
Now, however, he feels more at ease with the idea of returning.
"Now I've gone and done all these other things, and now I feel more comfortable with that character and that world again and where it sits in my life," Harington said.
He also made it clear that he still sees a possibility for the story to work if the right idea comes along.
"I still think there's a world in which something could work. I wouldn't have gone into it in the first place if I didn't," he said.
The Jon Snow spinoff was first reported in 2022, with Harington involved in developing the project. George R.R. Martin later confirmed that the working title was Snow and said Harington had brought the idea to the team.
The project spent about two years in development before Harington confirmed in 2024 that it had been shelved because they could not find a story everyone was excited about.
The planned series would have followed Jon after the Game of Thrones finale, when he was sent beyond the Wall after killing Daenerys Targaryen.
