Pierce Brosnan is putting an end to speculation that tensions with Tom Hardy caused problems behind the scenes of MobLand.
Speaking at the London premiere of the crime drama's second season on Sept. 10, Brosnan addressed reports that he and Hardy had clashed during production. The actor dismissed the rumors and made it clear that he has nothing but admiration for his co-star.
"Oh my God, it was a storm in a teacup, really," Brosnan told the Press Association.
The actor went on to praise Hardy, 48, saying, "I love the dude. I love Tom Hardy," before adding that he is a "massive fan" of the actor's work.
Brosnan also described the relationship between the main cast as strong, saying he, Hardy and Helen Mirren remain "rock solid as a company, as a family."
According to Brosnan, the fast-paced nature of filming means the cast does not necessarily spend much time socializing away from set. Everyone arrives for work, films their scenes and eventually heads home to their families.
The comments come after reports earlier this year claimed Hardy might not return if MobLand received a third season, with production disagreements cited as a possible reason. Those reports were ultimately put to rest when Paramount+ renewed the series for Season 3 and confirmed that Hardy, Brosnan and Mirren would all be back.
Hardy has also spoken positively about his veteran co-stars. At the premiere, he called Brosnan and Mirren "awesome," explaining that working alongside actors he had admired before entering the industry was a privilege.
"These guys are really talented and they're having a lot of fun," Hardy said.
Mirren, meanwhile, has also defended her relationship with Hardy. After reports of tension surfaced, she publicly expressed her support for him and later said she would work with him again "in a f--king heartbeat."
The actress also praised Hardy's approach to acting, noting that different performers have different ways of reaching a scene as long as the final result works.
The second season of MobLand premieres Sept. 18 on Paramount+, with Season 3 already confirmed.
