Germany, after an agreement was reached among parties in the country’s parliament on Tuesday, is set to hold a snap election on February 23. Chancellor Olaf Scholz’s Social Democratic Party (SPD) said that the main parties had agreed on the date for a snap election. The official announcement was made by Rolf Mützenich, group leader of the SPD, in Berlin.

Severe rainfall has led to widespread flooding in Spain's Costa del Sol region, forcing thousands to evacuate their homes. The Spanish meteorological agency Aemet placed both the Málaga area and parts of Catalonia on red alert due to a weather phenomenon known as a "Dana," which brings prolonged heavy rain and low temperatures.
