The Kansas City Chiefs began their quest for a third consecutive Super Bowl victory with a narrow 27-20 win over the Baltimore Ravens on Thursday, Sept. 5, at Arrowhead Stadium. Led by quarterback Patrick Mahomes and tight end Travis Kelce, the Chiefs managed to pull off the victory in the first game of the NFL season, setting a 1-0 record as they aim to make history with a three-peat.

The game started with the Ravens scoring a touchdown early in the first quarter, but the Chiefs quickly answered back, keeping the game competitive. After leveling the score with a touchdown of their own, the Chiefs edged ahead by kicking two field goals in the second quarter, securing a 13-10 lead at halftime. In the third quarter, Mahomes connected with Kelce for another touchdown, further extending their lead.

The final quarter saw both teams battling hard, trading touchdowns, but it was the Ravens' final drive that had fans holding their breath. With only seconds left in the game, Baltimore quarterback Lamar Jackson marched his team down to Kansas City's 10-yard line. On third down with just one second remaining, Jackson threw to tight end Isiah Likely, who appeared to have tied the game with a touchdown. However, upon review, Likely's foot was out of bounds, nullifying the score and handing the Chiefs the win.

With this victory, Mahomes and Kelce reaffirmed their intention to lead the team to another Super Bowl. Cheering from the stands was Kelce's girlfriend, pop icon Taylor Swift, who joined his parents Ed and Donna in a suite at the stadium. Dressed in Chiefs colors, Swift was seen celebrating and sharing hugs with Donna Kelce.

Prior to the game, fans enjoyed the World's Largest Tailgate event, featuring Saturday Night Live's Heidi Gardner and actor Rob Riggle. Donna Kelce joined in, making friendship bracelets, a nod to Swift's popular trend.

Next, the Chiefs will face the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday, Sept. 15, as they look to continue their winning streak.
