In the early hours in San Francisco, 49ers defensive lineman Keion White was injured in a shooting at Dahlia’s, a nightclub in the city’s Mission District. The incident took place around 4:00 a.m., just hours after the conclusion of Super Bowl LX. According to the San Francisco Police Department, officers arrived at the scene on the 1700 block of Mission Street to find White suffering from a gunshot wound to his left ankle.

Reports indicate the violence stemmed from a verbal altercation involving rapper Lil Baby and his entourage. White was reportedly hosting a private post-game event on the club’s lower level when the rapper’s group was denied entry. Witnesses stated that the tension escalated quickly after the initial confrontation, leading to two shots being fired.

The San Francisco 49ers released a formal statement confirming that White was a victim of the shooting and underwent surgery at a local hospital. While the injury is significant, it is described as non-life-threatening, and medical staff expect him to make a full recovery in time for the 2026 season. White later posted a brief update on social media to reassure fans, though the team has not yet provided a specific timeline for his return to football activities.

The investigation into the shooting remains ongoing, led by the SFPD’s Strategic Investigation Unit. Detectives recovered both 9mm and .45-caliber shell casings at the scene and are currently reviewing surveillance footage from the venue. However, the probe has faced early hurdles; investigators noted that White has been largely uncooperative regarding the identification of the shooter. No arrests have been made, and while the argument involved Lil Baby’s party, no charges have been filed against the rapper.

White, a former second-round pick who joined the 49ers via trade from the New England Patriots in late 2025, had recently become a staple of the team’s defensive rotation. This event has renewed local discussions regarding player safety in the city, occurring less than two years after the high-profile shooting of 49ers teammate Ricky Pearsall during an attempted robbery in Union Square.
